Restylane, What to Expect
Restylane ® is injected directly into the skin in small doses via ultrafine needles. Topical numbing cream or local anesthetic as a dental block is used to minimize discomfort.
Depending on the depth and number of wrinkles treated, the procedure can take up to 15 minutes. The results are immediate although some patients may experience discomfort and other temporary side effects immediately following the procedure such as swelling, redness, soreness, discoloration, itching, and tenderness.
To avoid bleeding and severe bruising, it is important to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or Vitamin E supplements. If you have a history of facial cold sores, make sure to tell your surgeon so he/she can prescribe medication prior to treatment to avoid reoccurrence.
