Midface Lift

As we get older our appearance begins to change, which can affect the way we (and others) view ourselves. Facial wrinkles and sagging skin are natural occurrences brought about by the aging process. The midface lift, also known as a cheek lift, is designed to restore a youthful appearance by lifting sagging cheeks, droopy skin around the corners of the mouth and smoothing out furrows around the eyes.

Depending on your desired goals, a midface lift can be performed alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery or a brow lift. Dr. Stokes will customize a strategy for you to ensure your desired results are met.

What to Expect

If performed alone, a midface lift will be performed in the office or hospital operating room as an outpatient surgery. The procedure usually takes 1 to 2 hours. There are different techniques that can be used to perform a midface lift, depending on your aesthetic goals.

The Procedure

During a midface lift, your surgeon will elevate the fat pads of your cheeks to improve contour and enhance cheek and under eye fullness. Because the cheeks are lifted vertically, patients will not be left with a pulled, stretched look, but instead a natural, refreshed look and feel.

Following the procedure, patients typically experience bruising and swelling for approximately two weeks and will feel mild discomfort. Patients will also experience itching and possibly some numbness at the incision sites as they begin to heal. Patients are able to wear makeup immediately and are expected to be back to full activity within six weeks.
